International co-operation with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)
Hungary joined the OECD in 1996 and since then it has actively participated in its programmes.
As regards employment and social affairs, the Ministry of Health, Social and Family Affairs - in close co-operation with the Ministry of Employment and Labour - is involved in the activities of the Directorate for Employment, Labour and Social Affairs (DELSA). Within the DELSA directorate, the Employment, Labour and Social Affairs Committee (ELSA) functions. The Working Party on Social Policy was established within the ELSA Committee, dealing with relevant social policy issues, as well as the Preparatory Group on Meeting at Ministerial Level on Social Policy. The Preparatory Group was established in the second half of 2003, aiming at preparing and organising a Social Ministerial Meeting to be held in Paris, during 31 March - 1 April 2005. The Ad hoc Group on Health deals with the preparation and organisation of a Health Ministerial Meeting, to be held in Paris, during 13-14 May 2004.
The Ministry of Health, Social and Family Affairs is strongly involved in the activities of each group, described above. Mr Mihály Kökény, M.D., M.P., Minister for Health, Social and Family Affairs is invited as a vice-chair and lead speaker for the Health Ministerial Meeting.
